EFFECTIVE OF THE FOOT IN THE EVENT OF INJURIES DUE TO BAD POSITIONING, PRESSURE
OR OF THE STRAINS.
To help achieve these objectives, the Association for the Protection of Diabetics of Portugal created the Program
APDP – Shoes Sound, relying on her vast experience in the field of care of the foot. This program has to
purpose, on the one hand, to assign a label “APDP - Shoes Sound” the models of shoes that meet the criteria
established, and on the other hand, to disclose to the people in general the aspects that need to be taken into account when
the purchase of shoes, in order to contribute to the health of the feet.
The basic characteristics to be taken into account for shoes healthy are a width, length, height correct
and adjustments that allow a good adaptation of the shoe to the foot. Similarly, the materials of the body
the shoe, the outsole and the insole, so that the height of the heel, should be the object of attention
particular.

THE SHOE ORTOMEDICAL® by ARCOPEDICO® delivers EFFECTIVELY THE CRITERIA LAID down BY The APDP FOR A SHOE HEALTHY

- Base of the shoe having a width equivalent to that of the foot

Making a contribution towards this, the Portuguese Diabetes Association has created the APDP
Program – Healthy Footwear – based on its extensive experience in footcare. This program is
intended, on the one hand, to award year “APDP – Healthy Footwear” seal of approval to footwear
models that compliance with defined criteria and, on the other hand, to make the general population aware of
what is important when buying footwear, so that this can aid in maintaining healthy feet.
The basic features to look out for in healthy footwear are the correct width, length and height and a fit
that allows the shoe to be correctly adapted to the foot. Attention should also be paid to the materials
forming the upper, the sole and the insole, as well as the height of the heel.
